Jello Jigglers Recipe (2)
  • 2 6-ounce boxes of jello (8 servings) same flavor
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • Cooking spray to lightly coat the bottom of the pan
  • Glass or metal 9×13 pan
  • Cookie Cutters

Instructions

  1. Before beginning, be sure to lightly spray the bottom of the pan. Bring three cups of water to boil on the stove. While the water is getting hot, pour the powder of two boxes of jello into a medium or large bowl.
  2. When the water has reached a rolling boil, pour two cups of water into the bowl, and stir for two minutes, or until all the lumps are dissolved.
  3. Carefully pour the jello into a 9×13 pan. If there are bubbles from stirring, drag a fork through the liquid. Chill the liquid in the fridge for at least two hours, or overnight, until the jello is very firm.
  4. Alternatively, you can buy really cool jello molds, or use chocolate or candy molds, to create amazing shapes and designs with the jigglers.
  5. Dip the bottom of the pan for five to ten seconds to help the jigglers come out easily. The leftover pieces of jello can be tossed with a little Cool Whip and served as a side dish, so you don’t even have to waste anything!
  6. Use cookie cutters to create fun shapes that you can use in table decorations, fun treats for kids at a party or dinner, or whatever you want!

What Are Jello Jigglers?

Jello Jigglers Recipe (3)

Jello jigglers are made from jello, but they have a lot more gelatin than regular jello. They are super-flexible and sturdy, so they can be cut out with cookie cutters, used as decoration, or played with as an activity with kids. They also make a great appetizer or side dish for kids at dinner or a gathering. When all they see is grown-up food, they’ll be so excited when they see these!

How long do jello jigglers last?

Jello is very shelf-stable so this will last a week in the fridge. And these jigglers will last hours on the counter before they start to wilt or weep. They make a perfect side dish or table decoration!

Tips for Success

  • Lightly spray the bottom of the pan
  • Don’t wear your favorite white sweater, since jello stains
  • Make sure the shelf in the fridge is level so the jello chills evenly.
  • Pop any bubbles with a fork or toothpick
  • Dip the base of the pan in hot water for five to ten seconds if you can’t get the jigglers out

What is the ratio of Jello powder to water?

The ratio of Jello powder to water varies depending on the specific Jello recipe you’re following and the desired consistency of the final product. However, a common ratio for making Jello from a standard gelatin powder package is:

  • 1 package (3 ounces or 85 grams) of Jello powder
  • 2 cups (480 milliliters) of boiling water

This ratio typically results in a firm and jiggly gelatin dessert. If you prefer a softer or firmer texture, you can adjust the amount of water accordingly. Additionally, some Jello recipes may call for the addition of cold water or other ingredients such as fruit juice or fruit pieces, which can affect the overall ratio.

Always refer to the specific instructions on the package of Jello powder or the recipe you’re using to ensure the correct ratio of powder to water for the desired outcome.

How do you keep Jello Jigglers from sticking?

To prevent your Jello jigglers from sticking you can lightly grease your dish, use a non-stick pan or silicone mold, and Allow the Jello jigglers to fully set and chill in the refrigerator according to the recipe instructions. This ensures that the Jello is firm and fully set, which helps prevent it from sticking to the pan when unmolding.

What happens if you add less water to Jello?

If you add less water to Jello than the recipe calls for, the resulting gelatin will be firmer and more concentrated.

What makes Jello so jiggly?

Jello gets its jiggly texture primarily from gelatin, which is the key ingredient in Jello mixes. Gelatin is a protein derived from collagen, which is found in animal skin, bones, and connective tissues. When gelatin is dissolved in hot liquid and then cooled, it forms a gel-like structure that gives Jello its characteristic wobbly and jiggly consistency.

Are There Other Ways to Make Jello Jigglers?

I’ve seen other versions of jello jigglers, including where you add unflavored gelatin instead of doubling up on the jello. This works just fine, but I like to just use two packets of Jello. It’s easier, you don’t worry about not having the ingredients, and it gives the jigglers a strong flavor and vibrant color.

However, if that doesn’t appeal to you–just add two packets of gelatin (four come in a box) for every large six-ounce box of jello.

No matter what you do, it’ll be fun, easy, and absolutely gorgeous!
