How To Make A Grapevine Heart Wreath (2024)

Here’s a way to make a pretty DIY heart-shaped wreath that’s so easy!

If you are having a hard time finding a heart-shaped wreath form in the craft stores don’t worry…there’s an easy trick to making your own form!

You will need to buy a roll of grapevine garland. You can grab it the next time you go to Michael’s or from Amazon. I love this stuff; I use it around my front door in the Fall.

Step 1. Form Heart Shape

First, I cut a 60-inch piece ( 152.4 cm) of the grapevine garland with a pair of sharp shears.

I took the two ends of the grapevine and bent them down to form the top of the heart; then I secured them together by wrapping floral wire around tightly.

I squished the bottom of the grapevine together and wrapped it with the floral wire to form the point of the heart wreath.

The grapevine wreath wants to close on itself so I put a heavy board on top for a couple of hours to flatten it out.

Step 2. Add The Flowers

Now it’s time for the flowers!

A heavy container kept the wreath flat while I was popping in the flowers. (it will hang up nicely at the end…you’ll see!!)

I was going for a simple, pretty look on this wreath using pink and white flowers and some dainty greenery. The flowers I had on hand from a bouquet I bought at Michael’s last Spring.

I added one large pink flower as the focus for the wreath.

Next, I tucked in a white carnation on either side of the rose followed by a lamb’s ear leaf.

Then I filled the grapevine heart in with small pieces of greenery and a pink baby’s breath-like flower.

Ready To Hang Up!

I used the wire at the top of the heart to hang up the wreath on my front door.

It’s such a fresh pretty look…especially in January ( we can pretend it’s Spring, right??)

1. Oh, I think it might be touch to form a larger heart with grapevine unless the grapevine garland was a little thicker that you were working with. In that case I would look for a premade grapevine heart and then use pretty flowers on it.

I didn’t soak the grapevine but I did have to put something heavy on it to flatten it out…I think because I had stored the grapevine garland wrapped up so tightly that it had a mind of its own!
